The rules for buying and selling on 1729
Last updated Oct 10, 2026
1Who 1729 is for
1729 is a marketplace for services that come with digital proof of payment. Sellers, such as freelancers, creators and small shops, list what they do. Buyers order it and pay through Vaaya. The receipt is attached to the order so both sides can check it.
These terms are an agreement between you and 1729. You accept them by signing in or using the site. If you do not agree, do not use 1729.
You must be able to enter a binding contract where you live. If you use 1729 for a business, you confirm you can act for that business.
2Accounts
You sign in with your Vaaya account. 1729 never sees your Vaaya password. Vaaya holds your balance and your payment history.
One person, one account. Do not share it, sell it or use someone else's.
You are responsible for everything done through your account, including orders placed and listings published. If you think someone else has used it, secure your Vaaya sign-in and tell us.
We can block an account that breaks these terms. A blocked account cannot buy, sell or submit proof of payment.
3Listings
A listing describes one service: what is included, the price in US dollars, how many days delivery takes, and what the buyer receives besides the receipt. All of it must be accurate, and the seller must be able to deliver it.
Listings must be lawful where the seller and the buyer are. Not allowed on 1729:
- Illegal services, or services that help someone break the law
- Fake engagement: bought followers, likes, reviews, votes or ratings, and anything else meant to deceive a platform or its users
- Stolen, counterfeit or unauthorised goods, accounts or data
- Anything that needs a licence, registration or qualification the seller does not hold, including legal, medical and financial advice
- Work that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or privacy
A listing can be a draft, live, paused or removed. Only live listings can be ordered. Pausing or editing a listing does not change orders already placed on it. We can remove a listing, hide a seller's listings while we review them, or suspend a seller (section 9).
4Orders
A buyer places an order on a live listing, with an optional note to the seller. The seller accepts or declines. Until the seller answers, the buyer can cancel.
When the order is placed, the listing's title, summary, scope, delivery time, price and proof note are copied onto the order as its terms. The seller can change the listing afterwards; the order keeps the terms it was placed with.
Accepting an order is a commitment to deliver what the order's terms say, for that price, in that time, once payment is verified. Placing an order is a commitment to pay once it is accepted.
A seller cannot order their own listing. A buyer can have one open order per listing at a time, and we may limit how many open orders one buyer can have.
5Payment
Payments happen through Vaaya. Prices are in US dollars. Fees will be announced at launch, and these terms will say what they are before any applies (section 11) and say so before it applies.
There is no escrow. 1729 never holds funds, never collects money on a seller's behalf and never moves money between accounts. Money goes from the buyer to the seller.
Vaaya does not yet offer payments from one Vaaya account to another. Until it does, the buyer pays through Vaaya and attaches the receipt to the order as proof of payment (section 6). When account-to-account payments switch on, the buyer will be able to pay from the order itself and the transfer will be verified automatically.
Vaaya's own terms apply to your Vaaya account, your balance and each payment.
6Proof of payment
Proof of payment is a reference the buyer attaches to an accepted order: a Vaaya transfer id, or the transaction id or receipt number of a payment made through Vaaya, with an optional copy of the receipt (PNG, JPG, WEBP or PDF, up to 4 MB).
One reference pays for one order. A reference that is already attached to another order is refused. After a rejection the buyer can submit again on the same order, up to 5 proofs per order.
The seller checks the proof against what they received and confirms it or rejects it with a reason. 1729 can also review a proof. Once Vaaya account-to-account payments are live, Vaaya transfer proofs are checked with Vaaya automatically.
Proof of payment is not proof of delivery. A verified proof means the money moved. It says nothing about whether the work was done; that is the buyer's confirmation (section 7).
Submitting a false, altered or borrowed proof breaks these terms and is grounds for blocking the account.
7Delivery and completion
Once payment is verified, the seller does the work within the delivery time on the order's terms and marks the order delivered, with a note on what was delivered and where to find it.
The buyer then confirms completion, which closes the order. If something is missing or wrong, the buyer opens a dispute instead (section 8).
What happens when nobody responds, for example a seller who never marks delivered or a buyer who never confirms, is not decided yet. Nothing happens automatically today: the order stays where it is until someone acts. The rule will be set before public launch and published here.
8Cancellations and disputes
Before payment is verified, the buyer can cancel, the seller can decline a new order, and either side can cancel an accepted order that is still unpaid. Nothing is owed.
After payment is verified, either side can ask to cancel, with a reason. The other side accepts or declines the request on the order. If it is accepted, the order is cancelled and any refund is handled as described below.
Either side can open a dispute on a paid or delivered order, with a description of the problem. 1729 reviews the order, its proof and its timeline and resolves it in one of four ways: completed, cancelled, closed with a refund pending our refund rules, or closed with no action. Both sides are told the outcome on the order.
Refund rules are still being set. Until then any refund is between the buyer and the seller: 1729 does not hold or move money and cannot force a refund. A resolution that calls for a refund records that fact on the order.
9Moderation
Anyone signed in can report a listing or a seller from its page. We read every report.
We can remove a listing, put a seller under review (their listings are hidden while we look), suspend a seller (they cannot sell), or block an account (it cannot buy, sell or submit proof). We can also cancel or close orders when resolving a dispute.
Where possible we tell the person on 1729, with the reason, before or when we act. Every moderation action is recorded in an audit trail.
10Liability
1729 is a venue. The contract for each order is between the buyer and the seller. 1729 is not a party to it and does not guarantee that a seller will deliver, that work will be of any quality, that a buyer will pay, or that a proof of payment is genuine.
1729 is provided as is. We do not promise it will be available, error free or secure, and we are not responsible for Vaaya being unavailable or for anything Vaaya does with your account or balance.
To the extent the law allows, 1729 is not liable for any loss arising from an order, a listing, a proof of payment or the use of the site. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that the law does not allow to be excluded.
You are responsible for the taxes on anything you sell or buy here.
11Changes to these terms
We can change these terms. The new version is published on this page with a new date at the top. For changes that affect you materially, such as a fee, we tell you on 1729 before they apply.
Using 1729 after a change means you accept the changed terms. If you do not, stop using 1729 and sign out.
